A downloadable game

Last Repose was designed as a meditation on death and one's own mortality. It deals with several challenging themes. If you're not in a place for such an experience, please check out some of my other, more adventure-focused, games.

YOU'VE LIVED A LONG LIFE, but, as with so many others, it has led you to the  white-sheets of a hospice bed. The days aren't easy, but you make the most of them.

As part of a nation-wide program, you've been assigned a pen pal, also in hospice, with whom to share your memories. You'll write and send the stories of all you've seen and done. Your joys and regrets. Your most cherished and dreaded memories.

The nurse brings you a sheet of paper. Machines whirl around you and the pen hovers over the page. You're unsure of how to start. Finally you decide to simply begin your story. At this point, what else matters?

Our games got a really kind shout out from the team at Dicebreaker in a recent episode of their podcast. Give it a listen here around 24:08.

HOW TO PLAY

Designed specifically to utilize any postal service, Last Repose has two participants using regular playing cards as prompts as they write and send correspondences as individuals in hospice, nearing the end of their lives. However they do not draw their own prompts. Instead, with each letter players send, they'll enclose a playing card to inspire their partner's reply. No GM needed.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Download includes a two-sided 8 1/2x11 trifold guide to play the game. Both you and your partner will need a copy of the rules (no need to purchase twice, just send the pdf to the other player), a 6-sided die, a 12-sided die, a deck of regular playing cards, paper, postage, and envelopes.

MISC.

For a single player solo variant, simply create the deck as instructed, follow directions for the opening entries and play as though keeping a journal as your character. Add in additional cards for longer games if desired.

If, for any reason, you are unable to purchase at this time, DM me through twitter (@tozieer) for a download key, no questions asked.
